Although historical records reveal that congregations of the church existed in California since the early 1850's, there are few details of where they were and as to their membership. The earliest reports to brotherhood publications only date back to 1908 to 1912 where members living in Orosi, Cutler, and Dinuba met in their homes. Some met with the Disciples (Christian Church) as at that time the only difference was the music issue.
In about 1912 or 1913 several families joined together to establish this present congregation in Dinuba, CA. They first met in Orosi and later in Dinuba in an upstairs hall. Among these were the J.W. Randolphs and the Sam Jordans who helped to arrange a meeting in Dinuba. G.W. Riggs from Los Angeles did the preaching in a tent on Tulare St. near the center of town. This was a very successful effort as there were a number of baptisms and several families from the Christian Church joined with them. Among them were the Amsdens, Updykes, Guthries, Balls, and J.E. Words. THis group bought an old building from the Methodist Church which was moved to the present location of Magnolia Way and College Avenue.
About 1919 the Kellys, Finchers from Texas, W.E. Gillens from Tennessee, and the A.C. Gillens also from Tennessee joined the congregation in Dinuba. About this time the elders were S.W. Jordan and J.E. Word and the deacons were J.A. Randolph, J.W. Randolph, and W.E. Gillen. All of these men have passed on to their reward. The original building on the present location was moved here from Traver, CA having been bought from the Methodists. It was used until 1947 when it was then sold to our brethren in Riverdale, CA where it is still being used by that congregation.
The present building was construsted in 1948-1949. Clell Holcomb, who attended here until his death in February of 1999, was the contractor. Throughout all this time we have had many preachers who have come and gone. We currently have around 50 members and our preacher is Christopher Roberts.
